A List of Duas (Supplications) for Pilgrims During Hajj

Hajj is a journey of faith, devotion, and supplication, where every moment is an opportunity to connect with Allah. Pilgrims from around the world gather in Makkah to perform acts of worship, seeking forgiveness, mercy, and blessings. Among the most powerful tools during Hajj are the duas (supplications), which carry immense spiritual weight.

Here’s a curated list of essential duas to recite during Hajj, drawn from the Sunnah and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). These duas will help pilgrims draw closer to Allah, seek His guidance, and make the most of their sacred journey.

1. Dua for Leaving Home

Before embarking on your journey, recite this du’a to place your trust in Allah:

Bismillāhi tawakkaltu ‘ala l-lāhi wa lā ḣawla wa lā quwwata illā bi l-lāh

Translation: In the name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah, and there is no power or might except by Allah.
(Abu Dawud)

This du’a reminds us that Allah is our ultimate support in every journey.

2. Dua Before Entering Ihram

When entering the state of Ihram—whether at the airport, on the plane, or on your way to Makkah—recite:

Allāhumma innī urīdu l-‘umrata fa yassirhā lī wa taqabbalhā minnī

This du’a seeks Allah’s ease and acceptance as you begin your pilgrimage.

3. The Talbiyah

The Talbiyah is the call of Hajj, recited repeatedly during Ihram:

Translation: I am present! O Allah, I am present! There is no associate with You. I am present! All praise and grace is due to You, and the dominion. There is no associate with You!
(Muslim)

The Prophet (PBUH) said:

“When any pilgrim utters Talbiyah, every stone and tree on his right and his left responds with a (similar) Talbiyah, until the whole earth resounds with it.”
(Ibn Khuzaymah)

4. Dua When Entering the Masjid

The Day of Arafah is the pinnacle of Hajj, a day of immense mercy, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal. Millions of pilgrims stand together in prayer and supplication, seeking Allah’s mercy and blessings. Below are essential duas to recite on this blessed day, alongside other key moments of Hajj.

Du’a for Affirming Tawheed (On the Day of Arafah)

The word Arafah means “to know,” and what better way to truly know Allah than by affirming His oneness with this powerful du’a taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:

Laa ilaaha ill-allaahu, waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer.

“None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and all praise and He is over all things Omnipotent.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The best dua is dua on the day of Arafah, and the best thing that I or the Prophets before me have said is ‘There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner’ (La ilaha illa’llah, wahdahu la sharika lah).” (Muwatta Malik)

Du’as for Forgiveness

The Prophet ﷺ said, “There is no day in which Allah saves more people from the fire than the Day of `Arafah.” (Ibn Majah)

On this day, seek Allah’s forgiveness and mercy with these heartfelt supplications:

Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni

“O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me.” (Ibn Majah)

“Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place a burden on us like the one You placed on those before us. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Guardian. So grant us victory over the disbelieving people.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:286)

Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa-in lam taghfir lana watarhamna lanakoonanna mina alkhasireen

“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will certainly be losers.” (Surah Al A’raf 7:23)

Du’a for Protection from Cowardice and Laziness

Make every moment count by asking Allah to protect you from weakness and distractions:

Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-hammi walhuzni, wal’ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhal’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaal.

“O Allah! I seek refuge with You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from being heavily in debt and from being overpowered by others.” (Bukhari)

Du’a for Halal Sustenance

Ask Allah for pure and blessed provision:

Allahumm-aghfir li, warhamni, wa-hdini, wa ‘afini, warzuqni

“O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, protect me, and provide me with sustenance.”

(Muslim)

Du’a for Protection from Hell-fire

One of the most comprehensive supplications for safety from punishment:

Allahumma aatina fid duniya hasanataw wafil aakhirati hasanataw waqina azaban naar

“O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Next World and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (Al-Albani)

Du’a for Guidance

The first du’a in the Qur’an to stay on the straight path:

Ihdina s-sirata l-mustaqim

“Guide us along the Straight Path.” (Surah Al-Fatihah 1:6)

Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba’da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah innaka anta al-Wahhab

“Our Lord! Do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us. Grant us Your mercy. You are indeed the Giver of all bounties.” (Surah Ali ‘Imran 3:8)
