The traditional story line is that hard work will make anything happen. In today's working world, things are quite different, however. These professionals end up getting through a workday filled with endless, exhausting work for little or no professional growth or fulfillment. This disconnect occurs because of an inability to recognize strategic growth possibilities, as overexertion could be a symptom of underlying inefficiencies. What's really needed is a move away from doing things mindlessly but well done towards doing things with purpose and impact that is, a shift in how we approach our day-to-day work.
