The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah declared that pilgrims who wish to perform the Hajj this year must have both COVID-19 vaccination doses.

The ministry also added that meningococcal and seasonal influenza vaccines are required for this year's Hajj pilgrims. The pilgrim's health must be in good enough condition to participate in Hajj practices. This includes not having any infectious or acute chronic illnesses.

After three years of restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Kingdom will no longer have any age restrictions for pilgrims, according to Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.

The Saudi government posted a Tweet on its official account saying, "The number of pilgrims will return to what it was before the pandemic, without any age restrictions.”. Prior to this time, the country prohibited pilgrims older than 65 from participating in Hajj ceremonies. Another Hajj-related announcement from Saudi Arabia stated that people who have never performed the Hajj rituals before will be given preference in 2023.
