Qatar Welcomed More Than 1.4 Million Fans During FIFA World Cup 2022

For the FIFA World Cup 2022, more than 1.4 million spectators from around the world have traveled to Qatar.

The tournament's organizers had stated that they expect total attendance to reach 3.4 million, which equates to an average of 53,000 spectators per game and an overall capacity of more than 96%.

Numerous thousands of fans in Qatar have taken advantage of the tournament's short schedule by attending more than one match each day, which is the first time in the tournament's recent history.

Throughout the tournament, everyday entertainment events drew more than 530,000 spectators.

Hassan Al Thawadi, Chairman of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC and Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, stated: "In 2010, we urged the world to 'Expect Amazing' - and we have spectacularly fulfilled that promise. The FIFA World Cup has been outstanding this year, and it will serve as a model for other mega event hosts in the future."

"We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all stakeholders, including spectators, athletes, the press, volunteers, and tournament officials," He added.

"Everyone has embraced the celebratory mood across the nation, and smooth transportation operations have made getting around easy. Without a question, this competition will have a significant social, economic, and environmental impact on the nation and the region" expressed Al Thawadi.

Additionally, more than 1.8 million fans attended the FIFA Fan FestivalTM at Al Bidda Park in Doha, Qatar, where games were broadcast live and there was a variety of entertaining activities.

The FIFA Fan Festival™, which debuted on November 19, 2022, has served as the gathering place for both domestic and foreign fans throughout the competition. It will broadcast every FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ game on a recognizable 1,800 square meter screen and offer free entertainment from some of the biggest stars in the global music scene.

Over the period of the tournament, more than 700,000 beverages were sold at the 145,000 square meters, 40,000-person capacity venue, which has hosted an average of 70,000 visitors every day.

Mead Al Emadi, Director of the FIFA Fan Festival, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), stated "Holding the first World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world left behind an important legacy of bridging the gap between East and West, and the FIFA Fan Festival has played a significant role in this journey. I want to express my gratitude to my outstanding teams for their tireless efforts over the past few years in completing this fantastic project. Without their tireless efforts, our accomplishment would not have been conceivable."
