Ramadan: The Prophet's Mosque Gets 400 Tons of Zamzam Water Every Day

In order for the worshippers and guests at the Prophet's Mosque to enjoy the holy water, the Agency of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Prophet's Mosque has put forth all efforts to transport Zamzam water from Makkah to Medinah and distribute it with the utmost professionalism and care.

During the month of Ramadan, Zamzam water is delivered to the Prophet's Mosque at a rate of up to 400 tons per day, where it is given to worshipers in 14,000 water containers and 10,000 additional ones.

Single-use Zamzam water bottles are provided at three centers and are either carried by people on their backs or transported by 80 normal and 20 electric carts. Ten extra trucks move the three times daily sterilized and refilled containers.

Bakr bin Hamed Al-Ahmadi, the director of the Suqya Administration at the presidency of the Prophet's Mosque, told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the administration is in charge of the transportation of Zamzam water from Makkah to the Prophet's Mosque through tankers designed specifically for this purpose, with each tanker having a capacity of 20 tonnes of water.

An administration monitor is in charge of unloading and sending in a sample of the water to the lab to verify its safety when it arrives in Madinah. The water in the approved reservoirs may be emptied by the tankers once safety has been assured.
