Saudi Arabia to Impose Fines upto SAR 100K for Visit Visa Holders Performing Hajj

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning regarding the unauthorized transport of individuals holding visit visas to Makkah for the purpose of performing Hajj. Authorities have announced that violators face fines of up to 100,000 Saudi Riyals (approximately $27,000), alongside the confiscation of the vehicles used to facilitate such trips.

The directive, reported by the Saudi Press Agency, comes as the Kingdom prepares for the upcoming Hajj season, which is expected to occur between May 25 and May 30, 2026, pending the official moon sighting. The Ministry emphasized that strict adherence to Hajj regulations is essential to ensure the safety, security, and smooth management of the pilgrimage.

Transporting individuals on visit visas to perform religious rites is strictly prohibited, as Hajj permits are reserved for those holding specific pilgrimage visas issued through authorized channels. The Ministry stated that the severe penalties are designed to deter illegal operations and protect the integrity of the pilgrimage process.

Citizens and residents are urged to cooperate with authorities and report any suspected violations. Reports can be made via the emergency number 911 in the cities of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or by dialing 999 anywhere else in the Kingdom.

The crackdown underscores the Saudi government's commitment to maintaining order during one of the world's largest annual religious gatherings, ensuring that only eligible pilgrims enter the holy sites under regulated conditions.
