Saudi Crown Prince, His Highness Mohammed bin Salman gave Britain’s Prince William a tour of the At-Turaif District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Diriyah, on Monday, showcasing one of the Kingdom’s most important historical landmarks.
Located in the heart of Diriyah, northwest of Riyadh, At-Turaif District holds deep cultural and historical significance as the birthplace of the first Saudi state. The area is renowned for its distinctive Najdi architectural style and its role in the early political and cultural history of the Kingdom.
During the tour, Prince William viewed several key sites within the district, including the palaces of the imams and princes of the first Saudi state. Among them was Salwa Palace, one of the most prominent historic structures in At-Turaif, which once served as the center of government during that era.
The Prince of Wales is on his first official visit to Saudi Arabia, having arrived in the capital, Riyadh, on Monday evening. He was welcomed by a number of officials, including the Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz.
The British Ambassador to the Kingdom, Stephen Hitchen, was also in attendance during the visit, which underscored the cultural and diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
