Riyadh is getting ready for an unforgettable start to Riyadh Season 2025, as the highly anticipated mega event officially opens on Friday, October 10, with a free Macy’s Parade—yes, straight out of New York City!

The opening ceremony will take place along Al-Hawyi Street near anb Arena, transforming the area into a vibrant carnival filled with giant balloons, dancing, floats, live performances, and music. For the first time ever, Riyadh will see the famous Macy’s Day Parade balloons making their debut outside the United States.
Announced just a day after the official Riyadh Season 2025 press conference, the event is already creating a buzz across the Kingdom. According to Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, this year’s opening will focus on family-friendly fun rather than the star-studded concerts that marked previous editions. “The event is expected to be free,” Al-Sheikh shared on X (formerly Twitter), inviting everyone to join the celebration.
In earlier seasons, major global artists such as Busta Rhymes and Ciara have headlined the opening night at Kingdom Arena, setting the tone for weeks of entertainment. This time, the spotlight shifts to inclusivity and community celebration, bringing a slice of American pop culture to Saudi Arabia.
For those unfamiliar, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is an iconic U.S. tradition that began in 1924 and runs annually every Thanksgiving morning in New York City. The three-hour spectacle, organized by the American department store Macy’s, features massive balloons, marching bands, and televised performances viewed by millions worldwide.
