Universal Studios might be bringing its blockbuster magic to Saudi Arabia — at least, that’s the plan being explored right now.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Universal’s parent company, Comcast, is in the early concept stage of developing a theme park in the Kingdom. Nothing is approved yet, and construction hasn’t been greenlit, but the idea is officially on the table.

Still Early, No Rides Yet
This potential project is very much in its brainstorming phase. Comcast CEO Brian Roberts confirmed that Universal Studios is doing initial concept work, stressing that the plan hasn’t been finalized and isn’t under construction.
So no confirmed rides, no franchise reveals, and no opening date — just early talks and big ideas.
Qiddiya Is the Likely Location
If the project moves forward, it would likely land in Qiddiya, the massive entertainment and tourism destination southwest of Riyadh. Roberts recently visited Saudi Arabia for an investment conference and toured Qiddiya, adding fuel to speculation that the site could host the park.
Any completion timeline would likely fall sometime in the 2030s.
Why Saudi Arabia Makes Sense
Universal’s interest isn’t random. Saudi Arabia is going all-in on entertainment and tourism as part of Vision 2030, its plan to diversify the economy beyond oil.
Major global brands are paying attention — and showing up.
Saudi’s Theme Park Scene Is Growing Fast
Universal wouldn’t be entering an empty market. Saudi Arabia is already building Six Flags Qiddiya City, the Kingdom’s first theme park, set to open in Riyadh on December 31, 2025.
Tourism numbers back the hype. Saudi Arabia recorded over 100 million visitors in 2024, including around 30 million international tourists. Early 2025 figures show the momentum continuing, with about 60.9 million visitors in just the first half of the year.
