The Broadway Hit Shrek the Musical is Coming to Riyadh in May

If you have grown up watching the magical, adventurous, and hilarious Shrek films, then you will be delighted to know that Shrek The Musical is coming to Riyadh in May for the very first time.

If know nothing about the Shrek films, you are still in for a treat. 

The musical will be performed at the Arena Riyadh Venue from Monday, May 1st until Saturday, May 13th.

Ticket prices start from SAR 100 and go up to SAR 500 for VIP attendees, more information can be found here.

There will be evening shows on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., matinee from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and evening shows on Friday and Saturday.

Each performance will last for two hours. The musical will feature Shrek's journey from leaving his beloved swamp to saving the feisty Princess Fiona of Far Far Away. The performance will also feature Shrek fans' other favourite characters like Donkey and the ridiculous and disliked Lord Farquaad.

The performance will include 19 new musical pieces in addition to some old favourites. Shrek the Musical has had over 500 performances since its opening on Broadway, New York in 2008. The musical has been performed in various countries including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Indonesia, and many others. 

The musical premiered in Ithra, Saudi Arabia in January 2023, which marked the debut of the musical in the Middle East. The show was followed by shows in Kuwait and Dubai, and now Shrek fans will get to witness the musical in Riyadh.
