According to The Guardian, Britain is facing a prolonged and torrid spell of summer weather as an intensifying week-long heatwave grips the nation. Temps will hit 34°C in the south-east by the end of the week. Experts warned that while the latest hot spell is likely to be short of the extreme levels of humidity which shattered records in June, its sustained duration would create unprecedented pressure on public transport, water supplies and the NHS.
