Preventing Contamination
The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing has banned perfumes and aftershave products near exposed food items, such as meat and dairy products, to prevent contamination.
Hygiene Regulations
Loose jewelry, earrings, and wristwatches are also banned for restaurant workers to avoid bacteria and dirt contamination. Fixed items like one-piece circular earrings or plain rings are allowed. Strict hygiene rules, especially in food prep areas, must be followed.
Food Poisoning Outbreak
The bans follow a recent food poisoning outbreak in Riyadh, where over 30 people were hospitalized due to contamination in mayonnaise at a burger joint. Clostridium botulinum was found in Bon Tum mayonnaise, prompting stricter food safety measures.
