Saudi Arabia Condemns Iran's Destabilizing Actions in the Region

Saudi Arabia has officially condemned the recent Iranian attacks on neighboring countries and commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The Kingdom described these actions as highly destabilizing for the region's peace and security.

A Call for Regional Stability

In an official statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed its deep concern over the ongoing tensions. The statement noted: "The Foreign Ministry expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s condemnation and rejection in the strongest terms of Iran’s continuation of its destabilizing behavior to the security and stability of the region,"

The Ministry further described these actions as a "breach of the basics of international law, the UN Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the basics of good neighborliness."

Protecting Maritime Safety and Sovereignty

Saudi Arabia highlighted the negative impact of these attacks on global trade and regional safety. The Kingdom condemned the repeated incidents involving commercial ships, stating they "threaten security and the freedom of navigation".

The statement specifically mentioned neighboring countries, including Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. It reiterated "its (Saudi Arabia’s) complete rejection of Iran’s breach of the sovereignty of brotherly states, and its continued threat to the region’s security and stability."

This response follows a series of missile and drone launches by Iran on Sunday, which occurred after new US strikes and a previous attack on a merchant vessel in the Gulf.
