151,000 People Visited Qatar in July Shattering Previous Records

Almost two million spectators from all around the world are expected for the international football tournament that Qatar will host from November 20 to December 18. 

The number of foreign tourists to Qatar in July was 151,000, which was a record high for the summer months since 2017.

Family-friendly performances were staged all throughout July in Qatar in preparation for Eid Al Adha and beyond. The free-to-view "Summer Festival" at Doha Festival City and the "African Circus" at Mall of Qatar were just two examples of the variety of indoor entertainment and various experience options that were loved by visitors. Three thrilling live performances were given in the Lusail Multi-purpose hall as part of Qatar Tourism's "Summer in Qatar" promotion, which was also supported by Qatar Airways and Ooredoo. The magical cirque adventures of three well-known tales—Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, and The Smurfs—were enjoyed by both children and adults.  

On its VisitQatar website, Qatar Tourism also provided a wealth of promo tours and day trips for individuals seeking adventure, nature retreats, or shopping getaways.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Qatar Tourism Authority said that 62% of all tourists were from nations in the Gulf Cooperation Council.

43% of all visits were from Saudi Arabia, followed by 7% from India, 6% from Oman, 4% from Kuwait, 5% from Bahrain, 4% from the United Arab Emirates, 3% from the United States, and 3% from the United Kingdom.

For the 2022 World Cup, Airbnb costs in Qatar typically run close to $73,000 a month.

The number of tourists entering the country via land is also rising, according to the most recent statistics on tourism performance.

According to the statement, 55% of all visitors opted to enter Qatar through the Abu Samra land port with Saudi Arabia, which was recently extended to allow the passage of 24,800 cars each day. Arrivals by air only made up 45% of all visitors, while arrivals by water only made up 1%.

With 729,000 visitors, a 19% increase over the total number of visitors the year before, the number of tourists visiting Qatar achieved a new high in the first half of this year.

Tourism figures from Qatar show that the country's hospitality industry made money, selling 3.1 million hotel nights, and that room availability is progressively rising, with 30,000 rooms being booked in the first half of the year.

With the start of the World Cup football event, the authority anticipates stronger growth in visitor flows in the second part of this year.
