Ramadan 2026 is expected to bring hotter-than-average weather for worshippers travelling to Makkah and Madinah, according to a preliminary seasonal outlook from Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Meteorology.

The authority forecasts above-normal temperatures and below-average rainfall in both holy cities during the fasting month, raising expectations of warmer daytime conditions for residents and pilgrims.

In Makkah, expected rainfall during Ramadan is projected to fall below the historical average of about 4.2 mm. Similarly, rainfall in Madinah is forecast to remain under its usual Ramadan average of roughly 4.3 mm.

Temperatures in both cities are also predicted to exceed seasonal norms. The report estimates that maximum temperatures could rise by as much as 1°C above average in Makkah and up to 1.2°C higher in Madinah.

Historically, average Ramadan temperatures stand at around 26.8°C in Makkah and 23.1°C in Madinah, according to the centre’s climate data.

The meteorology authority said the forecast is part of its broader efforts to provide seasonal climate guidance to support preparedness among relevant agencies and to assist worshippers travelling to the Two Holy Mosques during Ramadan. It also encouraged the public to monitor official updates through its accredited communication channels.
