“The creativity of Saudi poets comes as an extension of an authentic literary experience of great historical depth. During the ‘Year of Arab Poetry,’ the ministry will strive to support Arab poetry through initiatives, activities, and events that are held throughout the year in a diverse and rich cultural format,” Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan said.

“The land of Saudi Arabia has embraced since ancient times the most important poets in the history of Arabic literature such as Imru al Qais, Maymun Ibn Qays Al-A’sha, Al-Nabigha Al-Dhubyani, Zuhair bin Abi Salma, Antarah bin Shaddad, Tarafa bin Al-Abd, Amr bin Kulthum, and Labeed bin Rabia. The Kingdom has also formed a source of inspiration for the most important immortal Arabic poems, which made it the cradle of Arabic poetry as it was also a cradle of civilizations.” he added.
