According to the WTO, the number of foreign visitors to the Kingdom in the first quarter of 2023 hit 7.8 million, a 64 percent increase over pre-pandemic levels.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia rose 12 spots on the WTO Index from 25th place in 2019 to be ranked 13th globally as one of the top tourism destinations in 2022.

The statistics shows that 16.6 million foreign tourists travelled to the Kingdom in last year, regardless of their reason for travel.

Saudi Arabia climbed from 27th place in 2019 to 11th place in 2022 on the worldwide tourism revenue index.

According to Minister of Tourism Ahmed al-Khateeb in a statement by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the data are the outcome of the Saudi leadership's efforts to boost the Kingdom's position on the global tourism map and the sector's contribution to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
