Academic Calendar Overview

The 2024-2025 school year will follow a three-term system for public schools. This structure is designed to provide a balanced academic year with ample breaks. The three terms are scheduled as follows:

- First Semester: Starts on August 18, 2024

- Second Semester: Begins on November 17, 2024

- Third Semester: Kicks off on March 2, 2025 and concludes on June 26, 2025

Each term is structured to include breaks and holidays, ensuring students have time to rest and recharge.

Key Holidays and Breaks

Students will have several breaks throughout the year. Here’s a look at the holidays and vacation periods:

- Summer Vacation: Students will enjoy an eight-week summer break starting in August, leading up to the beginning of the academic year.

- Autumn Break: A short break will be observed in the fall.

- Eid al-Fitr: A holiday marking the end of Ramadan, with dates varying based on moon sightings.

- Eid al-Adha: Another significant holiday, commemorating the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

- National Day: Celebrated annually, recognizing Saudi Arabia’s unification.

- Weekends and Other Days Off: In addition to these major holidays, students will have weekends and other breaks throughout the year.

Future Academic Years

For the years following 2024-2025, the Ministry of Education has not yet decided on whether to continue with the three-term system or switch to a two-term system. Regardless of the structure, the academic year will always include at least 180 school days, spread over 38 weeks.
