The agency shared the news on its Twitter page, saying "#SaudiSpaceAgency...The beginning of a new phase...To draw an ambitious future towards progress and innovation."

The SSA hopes to create new and better opportunities for profitable innovations, which will help uplift Saudi Arabia's economy.

The agency also emphasized that with this change, they intend to focus on making the Kingdom a leading regional and international center in regard to space science.

The SSA will also focus on advancing developments in space science and planning exploratory missions, which will create new opportunities for locals in the space sector.

The change has been implemented after Saudi Arabia's historic space mission in May 2023, which sent the first Arab female astronaut to space.
