Al Hilal Beats Flamengo to Reach Club World Cup Final for First Time

Asian and Saudi champions Al Hilal defeated Tuesday, February 7th, South American champions Flamengo of Brazil to reach the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup final for the first time. 

Al Hilal registered a 3-2 victory against 10-man Flamengo, after the latter had Gerson Santos da Silva sent off.

The third goal was scored by Luciano Vietto on 70 minutes with an assist from Salem Al Dawsari.

The Asian club is now the first team from Saudi Arabia to reach the final of the Club World Cup.

Al Hilal will take on Al-Ahly of Egypt, or Real Madrid in the final after the two teams meet in the second semi-finals today, February 8th. 

Meanwhile, Saudi Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal offered a financial reward of SR500,000 ($133,268) to each team player.

The annual competition, which is being held in Morocco this year, kicked off on February 1st with a match between Al-Ahly of Egypt and New Zealand outfit Auckland City.

The tournament brings together the champions from each football federation to find the best club in the world.
