The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Interior, started on April 18, 2024, under the directives of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. It aims to help citizens, expatriates, visitors, and GCC nationals by reducing the financial burden of traffic penalties.

Key Details of the Traffic Fine Reduction

Drivers can take advantage of this reduction for all violations recorded before April 18, 2024. To benefit from the 50% discount, all accumulated traffic fines must be paid by October 18, 2024. Payments can be made in full or in installments for each violation.

The Traffic Directorate has also noted that starting from April 18, 2024, Article 75 of the Traffic Law will apply. This article allows a 25% reduction on individual traffic violations. However, it also stipulates that failure to pay fines after the objection period and legal payment deadline may result in imprisonment.

How to Pay Your Fines

Payments for traffic violations can be made easily through the SADAD payment system and the Efaa platform. The Traffic Directorate has cautioned against using any suspicious links or phone calls claiming to offer payment services.

Important Violations to Avoid

According to the royal decree enforced by the Ministry of Interior, committing specific violations during the grace period will disqualify offenders from receiving the discount. These violations include:

- Drifting

- Driving under the influence of drugs or banned substances

- Exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h on roads with a limit of 120 km/h

- Exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 km/h on roads with a limit of 140 km/h

Final Reminder

With the grace period ending soon, drivers are urged to settle their traffic fines promptly to avoid missing out on the reduction. This initiative not only lightens the financial load on drivers but also encourages safer driving practices across the region.
