Heads up, travel squad! Starting October 1, Sri Lanka is rolling out the red carpet for Saudi citizens with visa-free entry—no strings attached. Harin Fernando, the Adviser to the Ministry of Tourism, dropped this exciting news on Thursday, and it’s got us all hyped!

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad, called it a game-changer, saying this move will be a “catalyst to boost tourism and enhance business exchanges” between the two countries. Talk about leveling up! And as if that’s not enough, it’s also a sweet way to celebrate 50 years of strong diplomatic vibes between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.
But wait, there’s more! Sri Lanka didn’t stop there—they’re extending this visa-free love to citizens from 35 countries, including hot spots like the UK, China, the US, and India. Whether you’re from Germany, Japan, or even New Zealand, Sri Lanka’s got you covered.
Fun fact: Saudi Arabia is already the third-largest source of tourists for Sri Lanka, and with this new perk, those numbers are about to skyrocket. The Sri Lanka Embassy has been doing some serious work to get the word out, including making waves at the Riyadh Travel Fair 2024 back in May.
