Riyadh Breaks World Record for Longest Pedestrian Skywalk

The King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh has officially entered the Guinness World Records after unveiling the world’s longest continuous pedestrian skywalk, stretching an incredible 15.46 kilometers across the capital’s futuristic financial hub.

Designed to elevate both convenience and sustainability, the elevated, climate-controlled walkway seamlessly connects 95 buildings throughout KAFD—making it easier than ever for professionals, residents, and visitors to move around without touching street-level traffic.

Wrapped in over 30,000 square meters of glass and constructed with more than 3,000 tonnes of steel, the architectural marvel is engineered to handle Riyadh’s intense weather, all while promoting walkability and reducing carbon emissions.

“This recognition by Guinness World Records affirms KAFD as a platform for urban development,” said Faddy AlAql, KAFD’s Chief Asset Delivery Officer.

A Smart Move Toward Sustainable Urban Living

The skywalk system connects directly to Riyadh’s metro, allowing access to offices, residences, retail spaces, dining outlets, and entertainment venues—making it a centerpiece of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plans to enhance livability and smart mobility.

Built over 5 million safe work hours and involving more than 1,200 professionals, the achievement reflects the scale, precision, and dedication poured into the project.

Until now, the title for the world’s longest pedestrian skywalk was held by Minneapolis, whose network clocked in at just under KAFD’s record-setting feat.

Now, with this groundbreaking accomplishment, Saudi Arabia officially holds the crown—redefining what’s possible in urban design and proving that the future of mobility in Riyadh is already walking ahead.
