Saudi Arabia Bans Food Trucks in Residential Areas Under New Safety Rules

If your favorite food truck used to roll into your neighborhood — that’s officially over. The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has announced new rules banning food trucks from operating in residential areas across Saudi Arabia.

The updated regulations aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety, ensuring food trucks operate only in approved commercial zones.

Where They Can’t Park

The ministry made it clear: mobile vendors are not allowed near traffic lights, intersections, road entrances or exits, or within 10 meters of fuel stations. Basically, anywhere that could block traffic or pose safety risks is now off-limits.

Food trucks will have to stick to designated spots approved by local authorities and must secure the proper permits before operating.

Quiet Kitchens on Wheels

To keep things orderly, the ministry also banned loudspeakers and smoking inside food trucks. The move aims to maintain public decorum while improving the overall experience for customers and residents alike.

Authorities added that local municipalities will enforce the rules, and businesses are encouraged to adjust operations to stay compliant.
