A Dust Storm in Jeddah is Endangering Drivers

On Tuesday, a dust storm in Jeddah and other areas of the Makkah province caused poor visibility, prompting many motorists to stop driving.

This is the second day of dust storms in the region, and while temperatures rose in Jeddah and Makkah to 37 and 36 degrees Celsius, respectively, there was a drop in temperatures in parts of the Northern Border and Al-Jouf regions.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted medium to heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by dust storms and hail showers, leading to torrential rain, to continue in certain areas, including Makkah, Madinah, and Al-Jouf. Meanwhile, regions like Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province can expect moderate rainfall, as per the NCM forecast.

Jeddah's Health authorities released a set of guidelines to follow during the dust storm. The Ministry of Health emphasized closing doors and windows tightly to avoid dust exposure, as well as wearing air-filtering masks that should be changed frequently.
