Bahrain is gearing up to launch its first international helicopter service — and it’s heading straight to Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The new route is part of the country’s National Aviation Strategy 2026–2027, a roadmap designed to level up Bahrain’s civil aviation sector and make regional travel faster and more efficient.

A Faster Way to Reach Dammam

The upcoming helicopter service will connect Bahrain directly to Dammam, offering a quicker alternative to traditional travel between the two sides of the Gulf.

Officials say the move is about convenience and speed — cutting travel time while opening up more flexible transport options for business and leisure travelers.

Part of a Bigger Aviation Push

The helicopter route ties into broader upgrades at Bahrain International Airport, as the kingdom works to position itself as a stronger regional and global aviation hub.

Under the strategy, Bahrain plans to expand its number of destinations from 66 to 100 by 2030 — a move aimed at boosting tourism, trade, and overall economic growth.

Safety, Sustainability, and Growth

Authorities say the aviation plan focuses on safety standards, high-quality services, sustainability goals, and developing local talent in the sector.

In short: faster connections, more destinations, and a bigger aviation footprint for Bahrain in the years ahead.
