Saudi Arabia has introduced significant changes to its labor laws aimed at enhancing worker rights and creating a more stable work environment. These updates were approved by the Cabinet on August 6 and are part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals.

Key Amendments
The new amendments include several key changes:
- Extended Maternity Leave: Maternity leave has been increased to 12 weeks.
- Paid Leave for Sibling Death: Workers can now take paid leave following the death of a sibling.
- Paid Leave for Overtime: Employees will receive paid leave instead of overtime wages.
- Trial Period Limit: Trial periods for labor contracts are now capped at 180 days.
- Notice Periods for Termination: For indefinite contracts, employees must give a 30-day notice, while employers must provide a 60-day notice.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development stated that these changes aim to:

- Protect worker rights
- Develop human capital
- Promote training opportunities
- Increase job opportunities for Saudi citizens

These changes are part of Saudi Arabia's broader labor market strategy and align with international agreements the Kingdom has ratified. By updating 38 articles, removing 7, and adding 2 new ones, the amendments aim to support the ongoing development of regulations to strengthen the market, production, and service sectors.
