The arrests were made by the Hajj Security Forces stationed at Makkah’s entry points, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and organized pilgrimage season. According to the Ministry, all those involved in the illegal transport, drivers, accomplices, and even the unauthorized pilgrims are facing tough penalties.
These penalties include jail time, fines of up to SAR 100,000, and confiscation of the vehicles used. For the expatriates involved, the consequences go further, they’ll be deported and banned from re-entering Saudi Arabia for 10 years after serving their sentence.
Authorities stressed that these measures are in place to protect the safety and well-being of pilgrims. The Ministry urged all citizens and residents to follow Hajj guidelines and avoid shortcuts that could put lives at risk.
With Hajj being one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, Saudi Arabia enforces strict regulations to make sure the pilgrimage runs smoothly for everyone.
