The railway management has decided to do so because there is a huge increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims and visitors to Saudi Arabia via King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah and Prince Muhammad International Airport in Madinah during the month of Ramadan, which marks the peak of the Umrah season.

The Haramain Highspeed Train has witnessed a huge turnout of Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, as well as visitors to the city of Jeddah and the King Abdullah Economic City of Rabigh, through five stations. The railway has operated 25,000 trips since the beginning of its operations and it has maintained a 95% accuracy in the schedule of services.

There are two trips per hour between Makkah and Madinah during peak hours and one trip per hour between King Abdulaziz International Airport station and Makkah during peak hours.

Jeddah station in Sulaymaniyah has also had an increase in the number of trips because there are 58 trips taken between Makkah and Jeddah Sulaymaniyah. There are also 26 trips taken between Sulaymaniyah station and the King Abdulaziz International Airport.
