Saudi Arabia and Qatar Approve High-Speed Rail Linking Riyadh to Doha

The Saudi Council of Ministers has given the green light for a high-speed electric railway connecting Riyadh and Doha, following a Cabinet session chaired by King Salman in Riyadh.

A Fast Track Between Capitals

The 785 km line will link Riyadh, Dammam, Al-Ahsa, and Doha, with trains running at over 300 km/h (186 mph). Once operational, travel between the two capitals will take roughly two hours, a huge cut compared to current road or air options.

Major Benefits Ahead

The project is expected to serve over 10 million passengers a year and create more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, boosting connectivity and economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Modern Infrastructure for the Region

This electric high-speed rail represents a significant leap in Gulf transport infrastructure, offering a fast, sustainable, and efficient alternative for commuters and travelers alike.

With the agreement now approved, the region is one step closer to a new era of ultra-fast, cross-border rail travel.
