Saudi Arabia Launches Fund to Promote Football League into Top 10

In light of the continuous efforts to enhance the sports sector in the Kingdom, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has launched a new project that is aimed to enhance the football league and transform the Saudi top flight into an attractive destination for top talent.

The Sports Clubs Investment and Privatization Project will be implemented to renovate the path of the sports sector in the entire Gulf region. The private sector will invest in this project to elevate and develop the future of football and other sports in the country.

Major companies will be allowed to invest in the project’s teams and organizations across Saudi Arabia. Several investment opportunities in sports clubs will be provided in the last quarter of year 2023.

The project's primary objective is to establish the Saudi Professional League as one of the world's top 10 football leagues. Additionally, it seeks to significantly increase the league's annual revenue from 450 million SAR ($120 million) to over 1.8 billion SAR ($480 million).

The kingdom aims to increase the market value of the Saudi Professional League from SAR 3 billion ($800 million) to more than SAR 8 billion ($2.1 billion)
