Al Hilal Beats Wydad on Penalties to Reach Club World Cup Semi-Final

Asian and Saudi champions Al Hilal defeated Saturday afternoon, February 4th, hosts Wydad 5-3 in a penalty shootout to reach the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup semifinals. 

Musab Al Juwayr converted the winning penalty, while Moroccan Yahya Attiat-Allah could not convert Wydad's first one

The game had ended 1-1 with a stoppage-time penalty, after Saudi midfielder Mohamed Kanno struck in the 93rd minute against Wydad after Yahya Jabrane handled the ball and was sent off the pitch. 

Al Hilal will face Copa Libertadores champion Flamengo of Brazil on Tuesday, February 7th, in Tangier.

The annual competition, which is being held in Morocco this year, kicked off on February 1st with a match between Al-Ahly of Egypt and New Zealand outfit Auckland City.

The tournament brings together the champions from each football federation to find the best club in the world.
