Al-Hilal Dominates Al-Okhdoud 3-0 in Saudi Pro League Opener

Al-Hilal launched their Saudi Pro League season in style, dominating Al-Okhdoud with a 3-0 victory on Saturday. Aleksandar Mitrovic was the star of the show, netting a brace, while Sergej Milinkovic-Savic added flair with a sublime free-kick, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season for Jorge Jesus’ squad.

The match kicked off with Al-Hilal immediately showcasing their title aspirations. Within the first minute, Mitrovic capitalized on a slick combination play, converting a pinpoint pass from Abdullah Al-Hamdan to put his team ahead. The Serbian striker's quick finish was a testament to his lethal form in front of goal.

Al-Hilal didn't let up, pressing relentlessly to double their lead. Their efforts paid off in the 40th minute when Mitrovic headed home another expertly delivered cross from Al-Hamdan, underlining the budding partnership between the two. Their on-field chemistry is set to be a major talking point as the season progresses.

The first half ended with a flourish as Yasser Al-Qahtani earned a free-kick just outside the box. Milinkovic-Savic stepped up and delivered a perfect strike, leaving Al-Okhdoud's goalkeeper Paulo Vitor helpless. The Serbian midfielder’s brilliance further solidified his reputation as a world-class talent.

Mitrovic’s two-goal performance continues to highlight his exceptional goal-scoring prowess, bringing his total to 25 goals for 2024, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo by three. His ability to find the back of the net consistently positions him as one of the most formidable forwards in the league.

In the second half, Al-Hilal adopted a more measured approach, controlling possession and dictating the game’s pace. Al-Okhdoud managed to put up a stronger fight but failed to break through Al-Hilal's defense. Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was called into action, making a spectacular save to maintain the clean sheet.

Although Mitrovic sought a hat-trick, Al-Hilal's commanding performance ensured their victory was never in doubt. Their clinical execution in the first half and tactical discipline throughout the match signal that they are the team to beat this season in the Saudi Pro League.

As Al-Hilal continues their quest for the title, their firepower and cohesive play will make them a formidable opponent for any team in the league.
