The General Directorate of Border Guards issued a warning against entering the Kingdom's restricted land border areas. According to a statement, those who violate the Border Security Law and its executive rules face a term of 30 months in jail, a maximum fine of SR25,000, or both.

The directorate issued a warning to Saudi residents as well as tourists who often visit wild areas to avoid the border regions and to follow any rules or instructions that forbid reaching the prohibited land border areas. Construction of dirt berms around the borders and warning signboards have served as notice to the public.
The violators will be detained and reported to the appropriate authorities for legal measures. All hikers and picnickers were issued a warning by the directorate not to enter any wild areas that were near the border, and it made it clear that it would not be lenient in pursuing enforcement action against anyone who did.
