If you've heard rumors that Saudi Arabia has banned Indian travellers, here’s the truth: there is no travel ban. The Kingdom has simply placed temporary visa restrictions for certain countries, including India, due to the annual Hajj season, and these measures are expected to be lifted by mid-June 2025.

Why Were Visas Paused?
Back in April 2025, Saudi Arabia temporarily suspended Umrah, business, and family visit visas for citizens of 14 countries. The move was part of a larger effort to manage the flow of pilgrims and avoid overcrowding during the busy Hajj period. With over 1.6 million people performing Hajj this year, the goal was to ensure safety and comfort for all visitors.
Not a Targeted Ban
It’s important to note that this isn’t a targeted ban on any nationality. It’s a logistical step, not a political one. The suspension only affects short-term visa categories, and general travel from India to Saudi Arabia is not restricted.
Visas Expected to Resume Soon
Once the Hajj season ends in mid-June, regular visa services, including for Indian nationals, are expected to resume as normal. So if you're planning to visit for business, family, or religious reasons, you’ll soon be able to apply again.
India–Saudi Ties Remain Strong
Saudi Arabia continues to be a key destination for millions of Indian expats, pilgrims, and business travellers. The two countries share strong ties across sectors like trade, energy, culture, and tourism. This temporary visa pause doesn’t change that.
