Jazan Hosts the 10th Edition of the Saudi Coffee Festival

Organized and coordinated by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the 10th Edition of the Saudi Coffee Festival in Jazan kicked off on Saturday.

Saudi Arabia is a significant global coffee consumer and part of its plan for the future as outlined in Saudi Vision 2030 is to become self-sufficient in coffee production.

The Jazan-based Saudi Coffee Festival serves as a significant platform for promoting the premium coffee variety of Saudi coffee known as “ Khawlani “ which originates from the Jazan region. Coffee has become a popular tourist attraction in the region, highlighting the tremendous area's culture and customs, as well as the Kingdom's.

Khawlani is considered to be one of the world’s most-demanded coffee beans. For more than eight centuries, it has been planted in the region and has a history of being mentioned many times in old poems and songs from the region.

UNESCO recognized Saudi Khawlani coffee and its farming methods as part of humanity's cultural heritage last year.
