Oppenheimer Becomes Best-Selling Pre-Release Film of 2023 in KSA

The eagerly anticipated summer blockbuster "Oppenheimer" by filmmaker Christopher Nolan has surpassed the 2023 record for advance ticket sales in Saudi Arabia, according to statistics.

The Kingdom's largest exhibitors revealed that advanced bookings started last week and that after just six days the movie had become the biggest pre-release seller.

The Oscar-nominated Nolan's "Oppenheimer" tells the story of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who played a key role in creating the first nuclear bombs as part of the Manhattan Project. Nolan wrote and directed the movie exclusively for IMAX screens.

“We put a lot of effort into shooting the film in a way that we can get it out on these large-format screens. It really is just a great way of giving people an experience that they can’t possibly get at home,” Nolan told the Associated Press.

The film stars Emily Blunt, a Golden Globe winner, as Oppenheimer's wife Katherine "Kitty" Oppenheimer and Cillian Murphy as the scientist.

Along with Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock and Josh Hartnett as the first American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence, the Manhattan Project's director Gen. Leslie Groves is portrayed by Oscar winner Matt Damon, and Lewis Strauss is portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.

On July 20th, "Oppenheimer" will be released in Saudi Arabian cinemas.
