Saudi Arabia Announces Umrah Dates for 2025-2026

Planning Umrah? Here's When You Can Travel Again—Full Saudi Calendar Released

As the Hajj 2025 season approaches full swing in Saudi Arabia, many Muslims around the world who weren’t able to join the pilgrimage are setting their sights on the next best spiritual window: Umrah.

With Makkah already buzzing with early Hajj arrivals and the Day of Arafat expected to fall around June 6 (pending moon sighting), Saudi authorities have confirmed that Umrah for this season officially wrapped on April 29. That means all non-Hajj pilgrims must have exited the country by then—or face legal consequences, as only those holding Hajj permits are currently allowed in the holy city.

But there’s good news on the horizon.

On Friday, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah dropped the full Umrah calendar covering the Islamic years 1446 and 1447, offering clarity for those eager to plan ahead. According to the Ministry, Umrah activities are expected to resume after Hajj season ends, and the new Islamic year kicks off—likely on June 27, depending on the sighting of the Dhu al-Hijjah crescent.

Here’s the breakdown of the new Umrah timeline for 2025–2026:

Key Dates to Bookmark:

  • May 29 (29 Dhu al-Qadah): Service providers start signing Umrah package contracts
  • June 11 (14 Dhu al-Hijjah): Umrah visa and entry permits resume
  • June 12 (15 Dhu al-Hijjah): Issuance of Nusuk permits officially begins
  • March 20, 2026 (1 Shawwal): Last day to issue Umrah visas

  • April 18, 2026 (1 Dhu al-Qadah): Last day to exit the Kingdom ahead of Hajj preparations

Why It Matters:

Whether you're planning your first Umrah or returning for another spiritual journey, this calendar is your cheat sheet to avoid delays, visa issues, or worse—showing up when you’re not legally allowed.

Saudi Arabia’s clear scheduling signals growing efforts to make religious tourism more structured and seamless. So go ahead, start planning—but keep your eyes on that crescent and your calendar close.
