Over 8M Pilgrims Perform Umrah in First Half of Ramadan

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah revealed that more than eight million pilgrims performed Umrah in the first half of Ramadan

A total of 8, 235, 680 individuals have performed Umrah since the beginning of Ramadan during which the Grand Mosque is flooded with domestic and international pilgrims for the smaller pilgrimage.

In consideration of the increase in Umrah pilgrims during Ramadan, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently implemented the restriction of performing Umrah once a month during Ramadan to avoid overcrowding in Makkah's Grand Mosque

To enforce this policy, the Nusuk platform, an electronic portal used for Umrah permits, will display an error message for pilgrims who request a second Umrah permit.

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque also recently requested Umrah pilgrims to avoid crowding and photography during Tawaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

These restrictions will help reduce congestion and manage crowds during peak times in the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
