Saudi Arabia to Test Drones and Flying Taxis for Hajj 2024

Saudi Arabia is planning to test drones and flying taxis during the Hajj season of 2024.

The news was shared by the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh al-Jasser at a press briefing after the first batch of Hajj pilgrims arrived at the Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah on Thursday, May 9.

The flag carrier of Saudi Arabia Saudia announced in the past that it would use flying taxis to transport Hajj pilgrims between the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and hotels in Makkah.

The airline contracted to purchase about 100 Lilium jets, German electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, to transport pilgrims between the Jeddah airport and airstrips in Makkah hotels near the Grand Mosque and other Holy Sites.
