When is the Last Day to Get the Vaccines Before the Hajj Season 2023?

The last date for pilgrims to receive vaccinations, according to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, is 10 days before the Hajj season.

This got confirmed when the Ministry replied to a user on its official Twitter account. The individual had asked if receiving the third dosage of COVID-19 was a requirement for performing the Hajj.

The Ministry made it clear that receiving all recommended vaccinations is necessary in order to issue the Hajj permit. All Hajj pilgrims are required to be completely immunized against COVID-19 with one of the licensed vaccinations.

The following is a list of COVID-19 vaccines that Saudi Arabia has approved:

  • Pfizer/BioNTech. 2 doses
  • Oxford/AstraZeneca: 2 doses
  • Janssen. 1 dose
  • Moderna. 2 doses
  • Sinopharm. 2 doses
  • Sinovac. 2 doses
  • Covaxin. 2 doses
  • Sputnik V. 2 doses
  • Nuvaxovid. 2 doses
  • Covovax. 2 doses

A vaccination certificate for the quadrivalent meningitis vaccine (ACYW135), issued no more than three years and no less than ten days before arriving in Saudi Arabia, is also required of Hajj pilgrims.

Prior to traveling to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Ministry of Health advises all foreign pilgrims, especially those who are more likely to develop severe influenza illnesses, to get vaccinated against seasonal influenza. People with underlying medical disorders including HIV/AIDS, asthma, chronic heart or lung ailments, children under the age of five, the elderly, and pregnant women are included in this category.

The Ministry announced that the issue of the Hajj permit for the year 1444 AH would begin on Shawwal 15, or May 5. It was also confirmed that the 10th of Shawwal is the deadline for domestic pilgrims to make the third and final payment on their Hajj reservation.
