Panthalassa began the race at a strong gallop and covered a distance of 1,800 metres within one hour and fifty minutes.

Trainer Yoshito Yahagi said about the win: "I was happy when he went three wide off the rail. The ground was a little bit faster and he needs it fast. This win is higher than any other I have had – of course, it is the best feeling, because the prize money is the best, too."

Panthalassa's win was Yahagi's second win for the evening, which followed Bathrat Leon's win in the 1351 Turf Sprint.

Panthalassa beat jockey Franki Dettori and Country Grammer from the USA who ended up securing second place, while Cafe Pharoah, which is also from Japan secured third position.
