The Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia would host the FIFA Club World Cup this year from December 12 to December 22.

Major event staging is a critical part of the country's plan to grow its sporting sector. The Asian Cup, which is held every four years and is the greatest soccer competition on the continent, was officially announced with Saudi Arabia as the host country on February 1.

“We are honored and extremely excited to be given the opportunity to welcome the world’s leading football clubs and their fans to Saudi Arabia,” said Saudis Sports Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal.

The most recent tournament took place in Morocco and the UAE in 2020 and 2021, respectively. The international sporting event has also previously been hosted in Brazil, Japan, and Qatar.
