Fines worth SR4000 will be imposed on smart taxi drivers in the event of trip cancellation after accepting the trip request from customers.

The amendments include a punitive measure for drivers who fail to comply, such as a fine or suspension of their license. The amendments were made in order to improve the safety and security of passengers using smart taxis.

The amendments also state that cars registered with the drivers are exempted from the requirement that they must be brand new and have not been previously registered in Saudi Arabia or outside the Kingdom.

The providers of the approved technical system for smart taxis in Saudi Arabia will be fined SR5000 if they fail to supply the data required by drivers or if they fail to continue linking to the technical systems.

The new amendments were made in order to ensure that the technical system is reliable and that drivers have access to the data they need. The fines are intended to deter providers from failing to meet their obligations.
