Eight men were arrested in Jeddah on Wednesday, Jun. 14 for smuggling 410,000 amphetamine pills by hiding them in a truck, according to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GNDC).

The concerned authorities also reported the discovery of a trafficking den in the city.

The GNDC revealed that the arrested men included a Saudi citizen, two residents from Sudan and Syria, and five Yemenis who were illegally staying in the Kingdom.

The eight men have been referred to the Public Prosecution so that the necessary legal procedures can be carried out against them.

The authorities also found large sums of money in the traffickers' possession. 

The penalty for individuals who smuggle narcotics into Saudi Arabia is death, while dealers and users will face large fines, imprisonment, and deportation. 

The Kingdom has made several drug busts in recent months.
