Man Dissolves Marriage in Jeddah Within an Hour on Mother's Command

After only an hour of marriage, a groom in Jeddah decided to ask for a divorce from his bride. The period of this marriage may be the shortest ever recorded.

The world's shortest marriage lasted about one hour when the man decided he wanted to divorce his wife one hour after their marriage.

Before leaving the wedding, the groom asked the officiant who had been invited to make their Nikah official to annul it after vocally confirming the divorce, which is described as repeating divorce three times.

Due to his mother's demand that they get a divorce and discontinue their relationship, the groom decided to do what she had asked. The bride and groom initially connected while they were both studying overseas and after a period they planned to get married.

The bride's mother and sisters stated that they had opposed the marriage since she came from an entirely different culture than they did. They continued by saying that the boy and girl would not fit in with Saudi Arabia's culture due to their different backgrounds.
