Successful Cheekbone Reconstruction Surgery for Saudi Expatriate

A young expat's broken cheekbone was successfully reconstructed by a Saudi medical team with expertise in maxillofacial surgery after a four-hour surgery.

The young man suffered many severe facial bone fractures and a broken cheekbone as a result of a car accident, according to the Ministry of Health.

At Jeddah's King Abdullah Medical Complex, the foreign national was admitted to the emergency department. Multiple severe face bone fractures were detected during medical examinations, it was reported. The maxillofacial surgery team was then contacted to handle the case and work out an acceptable treatment plan.

The ministry reported that a comprehensive medical team was quickly assembled and that all diagnostic medical and radiological tests had been completed. The young man had many facial bone fractures, including those in the cheekbone, as well as facial lacerations, according to the diagnosis. An urgent procedure had been performed on the patient to repair the complete cheekbone, as well as to treat facial fractures and cosmetically close facial sores. After making a full recovery and stabilizing his health, the patient received his discharge.

According to the government, 68 surgeries were carried out by the King Abdullah Medical Complex's Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Jeddah during the first half of 2023.
