Turkish President Receives Official Welcome from Crown Prince in KSA

On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Jeddah in Saudi Arabia for the first time since being reelected in the country's presidential elections in May.

Erdogan was welcomed by many Saudi officials as he arrived at the location of a Saudi-Turkish business forum in the Red Sea city of Jeddah.

As part of a three-day Gulf tour with the goal of strengthening regional ties, Erdogan arrived in Saudi Arabia.  The Turkish president was formally welcomed in Al-Sallam Palace by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

“This visit has two main topics: investments, and a financial dimension. We have high hopes for both,” the Turkish president said before leaving for the Gulf tour that includes Qatar and the UAE between July 17-19.

Turkey will have a serious investment opportunity in the defense industry, infrastructure, and superstructure investments in the three countries. In addition, these countries will have the opportunity to purchase certain assets from Turkey,” he further added.

The Turkish president concluded by saying, “The value of the projects undertaken by our contractors in Saudi Arabia in the past 20 years is approximately $25 billion. We would like Turkish companies to play a greater role in Saudi Arabia’s large-scale projects.”
