Cinema Ticket Prices to Drop as Saudi Slashes Licensing Fees

Saudi Arabia's Film Commission has significantly cut licensing fees for operating cinemas, a move expected to cause a sharp decrease in cinema ticket prices. This reduction applies to both permanent and temporary cinemas across major, mid-sized, and smaller cities.

Permanent cinema licenses in major cities will now cost just SR25,000, down from SR210,000. In smaller cities, the fee has been reduced to SR5,000 from SR84,000. Similarly, temporary cinema licenses have been cut across the board.

The new fee structure aims to stimulate the private sector and make movie tickets more affordable for the public, encouraging the expansion of cinema screens and the screening of more Saudi films. Applications for licenses can be submitted through the Ibdaa cultural platform.
