Founding Day Events Across Saudi Arabia

Founding Day is celebrated on February 22nd in the Kingdom, which celebrates the establishment of Saudi Arabia as a state in 1727. As it is an annual public holiday, there are various events lined-up to celebrate the occasion.

February 22nd will be a holiday for all public and private sector employees as well as students, while public sector employees and students also get the day off on Thursday, February 23rd, which means they get a four-day long holiday.

Here are some events happening for Founding Day:

Founding Day Historical March

Saudi Arabia's history and cultural heritage will be shown off during the march, which will include horse processions and art sculptures. The march will take place at Riyadh’s Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al Awwal Road on Friday, February 24th  after Isha prayer (7:21 p.m.).

Theatre Performance

A play "Our Muallaqat: The Extension of Glory" centred on Arabic poetry will take place at Princess Nourah University in Riyadh on February 22nd and February 27th. Ticket prices range from SAR 50-150.

Musical Performance

A historical music composition titled "Sohail" will be performed at the Al-Turaif neighbourhood in Diriyah.

Majlis

This event will be held at the King Fahd National Library in Riyadh, which will feature the Foundation Day Exhibition and other lectures and workshops. The Exhibition will feature four sections: An Artist From my Country; My Country Tunes; Calligraphy Arts with the Most Famous Saudi Calligraphers; and Our History With our Eyes.
